We envision that, by 2030, the communities of Boulder County, including each of its ten incorporated cities and towns, have a culture built on the practice of community-led solutions. Using the Collaborative’s racial equity framework as a guide, the work of government leaders to actively disrupt structural oppressions and to shift power to frontline communities becomes consistent practice. Trust is evident as the leadership, wisdom, and experience of the BIPOC and other historically excluded communities are valued and sought after to reconstruct policies. The model projects that the Collaborative has fostered are tangible representations of the framework in action as frontline community members identify challenges and design solutions that directly improve their lives. These processes draw on multiple ways of knowing, including design and systems thinking, ecological principles, cultural practices, imagination, and creativity. People throughout the county come together across differences, intergenerationally, to foster connection and belonging, cultivating a thriving, just, and resilient society regionally and beyond.
